3rd XI Match Reports
Broomfield 1 - 2 Old Stationers
Scorer – R Walker
Contributing massively to their own downfall, the 3rd XI conspired to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against Old Stationers at Hazlewood on Saturday.
Leading 1-0 after a well taken goal by Rob Walker midway through the second half, Broomfield inexplicably decided to pull an extra man back into defence without addressing the problem of having one less man in midfield. Stationers duly took control, and equalised five minutes from time.
A draw might have been a fair result, with both sides fairly evenly matched, however in the last thirty seconds a bouncing through ball was about to be collected by Paul Dorling when he lost his footing, allowing the Stationers forward to slot the ball into an empty net.
The 3rd XI have had a difficult time of late and the manner of the defeat really is a kick in the teeth for them. They will need to show plenty of character to bounce back and start picking up some much needed points.
