6th XI Match Reports

NORSEMEN 9 1-4. BROOMFIELD 6's 16/04/2005

Goals Scored by: P. Maiden (2) J. Wildman D. Willoughby

Last Game of the season and the most important of them all.

It was pretty straight forward, a win and the league is ours, a draw and we finish runners up and if we lose we finish 3rd but we started ok keeping control of the ball for a while and then we fell asleep for two seconds and Norsemen almost scored but hit the side net.

We took the lead on the 20th minute with a great shot from our top goal scorer this season Phil. We kept our cool had a few more chances until we had a free kick which was quickly taken straight to Phil making no mistake and scored his 23rd and final goal of the season. With around 5 minutes to go we scored again with a great shot from Jamie Wildman who has been excellent this season.

Referee blew for half time and I went straight to the bushes cos I was dying to take a piss, but great end to the half, 3-0 to the 6s.

Second half started well as we had most chances but no goals and norsemen had one shot which it straight on the bar but then was cleared away. After that a norsemen player was fouled outside the box just near the corner flag and referee said it was a penalty and we were all shocked, so the norsemen just accepted it even though the player that was fouled, I think his name was Josh was laughing about it and couldn’t even look me in the eye when I told him to tell me the truth. The penalty was taken and the keeper went the wrong way 3-1 to Broomfield with 15 minutes to go.

We had 2 more chances after that a great shot from Jamie which slammed onto the cross bar and the final chance was by Dion who lobbed the keeper from 10 yards outside the box. Final whistle went and the 6th Team won their 2nd ever SAL in history and this was a special season because we won the Double. Don’t you think it’s a bit of a coincidence that we won both trophies at Norsemen?

Thank You Bob for being a great manager this season.

Thank You Mick for being a great captain and for all your crap jokes.

See You Next Season at Broomfield FC

BROOMFIELD 6’s 2 - 2 NORSEMEN 9’s 02/04/2005

Goals: S. Yates & J.Wildman

After our Cup success two weeks ago our manager Bob told us to go and play today the same way we played then, because this game today is very important if we want league success as well and we don’t know what they are like, since we haven’t played them this season neither home or away. We had a very poor first half going 1-0 down after 10 minutes due to a very controversial goal which was clearly offside and then we had a couple of good chances but they had a very good keeper to stop the shots on goal. So at the break 1-0 to the away team.

Second half we started well scoring around the 50th minute, brilliant header by Stuart. We kept our cool had a couple more chances but no reward we just couldn’t get it passed the goalie and when we did the referee said it was offside Around the 65th minute Norsemen scored and took the lead again with a couple of deflections not going our way and easily put through a empty net. With 15 minutes remaining we levelled the score again a brilliant cross went to the feet of Jamie Wildman and then right at the back of the net. There were a few arguments and fights when the Norsemen No. 16 kept on getting in front of the keepers way every time he was taking a drop kick but the referee didn’t do much about it since he was in his own little world, even when the same player stroke his fist out to the keeper like a wanker (pardon me) the referee took no action and there were no cheers from the Broomfield side to the oppo this week. Norsemen are now out of the title race but we are still very much alive to winning this league if we get two wins in the two remaining games

Lets join forces with the 1st team and bring home 4 trophies to the 2 we already have as we reach the climax of a wonderful season at Broomfield Football Club

BROOMFIELD 3(2)-2(2) OLD OWENS aet 19/03/2005

It was our biggest test to date in terms of occasion, how would the youngsters handle the day. I need'nt have worried, from the kick off Dominic Salisbury recieved the ball at left back played it down the line to Dion Willoughby who put in a cross to the far post, where Jamie Wildman fired his shot just wide of the post. Owen's who had 9 players of 6ft or taller and could probabley be heard shouting ther pre game war cries, from the Cambridge roundabout now knew they would need more than strength and power to beat us. We got our break through after about 15mins, Salisbury scoring from out side the penalty box 1-0. With all the football being played by us we desersvedly went 2-0 in the lead when S Yates, sent Phil Maiden (who was terrorising Owen's deffence single handed) through, who held of defenders to score. D Willoughby hit the bar with a rasping volley and J Wildman scored but was ruled of side, half time 2-0.

Realising the game was slipping from there grasp Owen's started playing route one football with their goalkeeper creating most of there attacks with his long kicks, which were reaching our penalty area. With our deffence of G Mule, J Turner, D Salisbury, T Wildman and B Williams frustrating Owen's, untill 20 mins to go when they scored to make it 2-1, 5 mins to go Owen's scored to make it 2-2 and sent the game into extra time, " it felt like we had lost the game". With our midfield of exprience A Tyley, S Yates and youth of A mohamed, D Willoughby, L Yates and a M.O.M performance from J Wildman who had given everything and more, we needed a lift and it came in the form of a dubious back pass decision against us with 5 mins of extra time remaining, 10 yards from goal everybody on our goal line the kick was taken and blocked on the line by J Wildman, a determination ran through the team we gained possession, J Wildman played the ball to D Willoughby who raced through to score the winning goal.

I Would like to thank all the spporters, ref, lines men and Norseman for making it such a great day, and especially my players.

Well done to Mick Robbins and the 1st team, "Come on you Brooms".

From Bob Wildman, Player/Manager.

EBOG 8's 1 - 9 BROOMFIELD 6's 12/03/2005

Today’s game was very important being our game in hand of Crouch End and Stationers and our team talk from Bob was “even though we have a cup final next week if we want to win this league every game we play until the end of the season will be our cup final”.

When the game kicked off took us 15 minutes to score and after that the match was to easy and scored on most shots on goal.

Overall we scored ten goals, 9 for us and 1 own goal, confusion between the Broomfield defender and goalkeeper.

Phil got 3 goals and his first hat trick of the season, 2 Goals from Jamie and Deon.

Domenic scored one and like every week Bob plays for the last 10 minutes of each match and scores just like today

A win like that might just boost us up for next week when we will play our biggest match of the season to get our first trophy of a possible two.

BROOMFIELD 6's 3 - 3 OLD STATIONERS 6's 05/03/2005

The 6’s had a week off from football after our cup final was called off until 19th March but we started off this game well by getting an early goal scored by Phil and after that the 6’s had chance after chance but never scored from any and Stationers got one shot on target which was saved and before the break Stuart got a goal which ended the half 2-0 to the 6s.

Stationers came into the second half with the wind on their back and a few defensive errors led to the oppo scoring 3 goals which put them ahead to make the score 3-2 to Stationers with 15mins remaining.

With the last quarter of the game remaining it was all Broomfield but couldn’t get it past the keeper until a 90th Minute Corner which was headed brilliantly by Deon went straight at the back of the net ending the game 3-3

We still have a chance of winning this league as we are in control of our own destiny now that Crouch End Vamps lost last week.

Goals: P Maiden 3, D Willoughby 2, J Wildman, Don, B Wildman

BROOMFIELD 6's 2-0 OLD ACTONIANS 6's SAL Intermidiate Novets Semi Final 29/01/2005

Scorers: P. Maiden - 2

Playing at Hazelwood and previously beaten 6-1 by the same opposition in the AFA Cup, the scene was set. (we owed them) in the knowledge of learning more from a defeat than a win, we set about our game plan, playing 5 across the midfield, marking tight and allowing them no time to dictate play, as they did in the previous game.

No sooner had we kicked off the midfield won the ball and sent P. Maiden away down the right, using his pace and strength scored from an angle that looked impossible, 1-0 to the Brooms.

What a start it put them on the back foot and cemented our togetherness as a team,

Chances went begging at both ends with G. Mule (G Keeper) having a fine game and looking more accomplished as the season progresses.

O. Acts tried to upset us and get us into a battle but the break came just at the right time to calm every body down and to remind players not to get involved as we did in the previous game. The second half was as open as the first with every brooms player giving 100%, with 15 mins to go L. Yates sent P.Maiden through to score his second and decisive goal, and taking us through to the final. 2-0 winners (were on our way to wembley).

Team: G. Mule, T. Wildman, J. Clarke, J. turner, S. Yates, D. Willoughby, A. Mohamed, A. Tyley, M. Dorrington, J. Wildman, L. Yates, P. Maiden, B. Wildman.

PS, Thanks to Mick Robbins and all of the second team for the use of the pitch.

BROOMFIELD 6's 4-2 WINCHMORE HILL 8's 6 Nov 2004

After a really tough cup game that we won last week that lasted 120 minutes I’m sure we were all glad that today’s game was a league match. But It started very tight for both teams to try and score because of two very hard defences to break and the referee calling offside at the right time, until the Winchmore keeper took a long drop kick that landed on the foot of one of their strikers and scoring making it 1-0 to Winchmore Hill, but we never gave up because just before half time we were level when Phillip blasted the ball into the top left hand corner of the goal with the keeper only watching so half time 1-1.

The second half was the same as first, very hard to score on each side of the pitch until a poor backpass to the keeper from Brian went straight to the opposition and a simple goal for them to score so we were back were we started, 2-1 to Winchmore.

In the last 20 minutes is were all magic happened, our defender Stuart Yates scored from 30 yards bringing us level again and then later his son Liam shot straight at the keeper which he saved but still went in making it 3-2 giving us the lead for the first time in the match and to finish it Phillip scored his second of the day ending the game 4-2 to Broomfield.

You could see the frustration on the Winchmore Hill players for losing the lead twice and one of their players also got booked for kicking the ball away.

BROOMFIELD 6's 0(2) - 0(1)WEST WICKHAM 6's (After Extra Time) 30th October 2004 SAL INTERMIDIATE NOVETS CUP

Our fist game in the SAL Cup this season is a game to be remembered because it was our hardest, playing for 90 minutes and still no goals were scored and both keepers not having much to do just the odd clearing the ball because of two very strong defences and finally on the 106th minute Mick Dorrington bulleted a shot right in the back of the net making it 1-0 to Broomfield.

We thought we would keep it that way until the final whistle but then Mick decides to shoot from 25 yards and lobbed the keeper to make it 2-0 so we were home and dry and qualified for the next round but Wickham didn’t give up, they managed to get a goal on the 120th minute from a corner but it was too little too late.

LLOYDS TSB 6's 2-3. BROOMFIELD 6's 23/10/04 AFA CUP

A small Pitch and a typical wet, rainy and windy day that took part for the whole 90 minutes along with our game but it all started driving all the way to Beckingham in South London leaving very early because it took 2 hours getting there thanks to the traffic, but once we all got there we had about 20 minutes until kick off so we had our team talk on how this team hare going to be much harder that last week after winning 6-1 to EBOG.

Around 3pm we found out the referee wasn’t coming so the Club President took charge of the game starting kick off 25 minutes later than scheduled. On to the game the 1st half we had the wind against us and 5 minutes gone Lloyds score the ball was coming slowly towards the Broomfield keeper and somehow still managed to spill it and was punished, I was very cross with myself for spilling the ball like that but the worst was yet to come when around 30 minutes into the game were the rain was rainy and the wind was VERY windy the Lloyds keeper takes a normal drop kick like any other kick into the air bounces into my area I misjudged it, lobbed me and I tried but there was nothing I could do. 2-0 name once when a keeper scores from that position? I was so disgusted with myself that I had to get Terry Wildman to pick me up and I just felt like leaving the pitch and giving up my goalie shirt because the 6’s did not deserve to be losing to such a disorganised team which aren’t even worthy to score a goal because of the way they were playing, their game was just long balls, because it’s a small pitch and strong wind.

Just before half time we scored from a corner and there were so many players in the way it was hard to tell who scored so Half Time 2-1 to Lloyds.

Second half we had the wind advantage and around the 50th minute we scored from another corner, which put us back into square one. Now we were on fire because we had multiple shots on goal and about 5 corners in the space of 10 minutes and in one of those corners Liam crossed it and curled its way into the back of the net coming from 2-0 down to lead the game 3-2. There were no more goals after that just the occasional shot from Broomfield that went wide and Lloyds shot on goal which was wonderfully saved by the Brooms keeper having put his mistakes behind and glad to be smiling again.

Overall it all worked out for us the 2 hour drive, the 25 minute delay, Club President being the referee, horrible weather and of course the Goalies mistakes.

The only down side is that Mick was challenged really hard and hurt his leg really bad but well done Broomfield for keeping up your heads and coming from behind.

Next round we play Old Actonians 6th Home on November 13th.

BROOMFIELD 6's 6 - 1. EAST BARNET OLD GRAMMS 8's 16/10/04

After losing last week to Old Stationers in a game that we at least deserved a draw from because we were the better side, we all came into this game with a positive attitude despite two of our good players missing because they play in a semi-pro league and had been told from their other manager not to play. But for this game we had 2 new strikers joining our 6th team Phillip and the other one cant remember his name. In the changing room we had the original talk from Bob to play well, to have fun and of course not to bollocks anyone from our team (only he can do that).

On to the match took us about 20 minutes to score but at half time it was 5-0 to the 6’s. The fist goal came from a cross, which the EBOG’S keeper caught but then slipped it and the goal was at our mercy which we took full advantage. I cant quite remember the rest of the goals before half time all I remember is that Mick scored 2 brilliant headers (he loves it when I say that) because he cant stop talking about it. God must be shining down on him because the Lord must be sick and tired of receiving all the long and high shots that Mick usually does. On the other side of the pitch there wasn’t much action except when the 6’s goalkeeper (that’s me) challenged a striker and handballed it outside the area but the referee did not see anything. I had no clue that I handballed it until Monday morning because a teacher from my school happened to walk past Hazelwood and see me do it. So half time 5 - 0 the only downside is that Terry Wildman dislocated is arm or broke his fingers, he was in a lot of pain so I didn’t ask, lets hope he gets better not just for Broomfield but for his Job as well.

Second half I think we scored around the 60th minute to make it 6 goals and then amazingly EBOG’S got their 1st corner kick and sooner after that I got my First goal kick of the entire match. Just before the game ended EBOG scored a soft goal, which we shouldn’t have really to finish the game 6-1 to the 6’s

Well done boys first 3 points of the season lets hope we can do the same next week in the AFA Cup against Lloyds (Can you believe we have to go all the way to Beckingham).

Report from Gianni Mule 6th Team Goalkeeper.

Part 2

Brooms got back to winning ways showing the determination & skill which has given us such a good start to the season. What was pleasing for me wasthe character we showed after last weeks defeat. Two headed goals by M Dorrington came from corners swung in by Liam Yates who could show Alf a parabula which helps the team. Two goals from Jamie Wildman, one from Phil Maiden & the best of the six was a cross on the run from Jamie Wildman which found Jamie Yates to power a header into the roof of the net.

AFA CUP Broomfield 6's 7-0 Old Camdenians 4's 02/10/2004

Brooms with an emphasis on youth for this season started the game in an impish fashion, this was a David and goliath situation, Boys VS. Men, Skill VS. Braun and I'm glad to say skill and a willingness to work hard put us 4-0 up at half time ( I gave out the lollipops) and gave my team talk, finally adding "be careful, Goliath is getting angry at being out thought, out manoeuvred, out fought and out played. The second half went much the same as the first with a few fine one on one saves from our mainly uncalled upon goalkeeper G Mulle. we then went on to score another 3 goals to finally run out worthy 7-0 winners. All the players hoping for a top team i.e West Ham/Arsenal/Tottenham in the next round.
